Denise Macgregor
Born in Lazenby, near Redcar in northeast England, she has traveled extensively,
initially in Singapore with the RAF, and later spent over 20 years in the USA, where
she had a successful career in Corporate Communications. She began her formal study
of art at Springfield College in Illinois in the early 1990’s, and after returning to
the northeast she continued her studies in the Creative Arts at Durham University as
a mature student.
She has exhibited her work in the United States, and her paintings hang in private
collections in such places as Atlanta, Chicago, Springfield, St. Louis, as well as
the UK. She is a regular exhibitor in the region.
Her earlier work was primarily expressionistic, but she went on to begin this series
of flower portraits after working with the late Nerys Johnson. She has attempted to
capture a "mood", or "portrait" of each of her subjects, as opposed to a botanical
"photographic" representation.
She uses her paintings as a meditation and visualisation practice herself, and now
offers archival prints and greetings cards in order to share her work on a wider scale, and to give others
the opportunity to use her work in their own visualisation and meditation practices.
She now lives in Gainford,
near Barnard Castle in County Durham. In addition to her painting,
she leads art-based Life Coaching Visualisation courses and private
sessions. For more information please visit my
