A number of prints are now available to purchase. These are archival quality
Giclée prints. This results in excellent colour matching
using light
fast inks. The manufacturers guarantee that the colours will remain true for up to 25
years, indoors in indirect sunlight. It is a
water-based ink, and it is strongly recommended that your prints are framed under
glass for protection.
For your convenience, wherever possible, prints have been sized to fit standard
IKEA frames allowing a border to show the artist’s signature and title of the
work.
In Giclée printing, no screen or other mechanical devices are used and
therefore
there is no visible dot screen pattern, and the image has all the tonalities and
hues of the original painting. And because they are printed on canvas, they have
the look and feel of an original. They are more expensive to produce, but the
quality is superb.
Giclée (pronounced Jee,clay) is a French term meaning to spray or squirt,
which
is how an inkjet printer prints. However, it is not the same as standard desktop
inkjet printing onto plain paper and bears no resemblance to colour photocopying.
Specialist digital printers are producing Giclée prints
of the
utmost calibre that are now appearing in the finest galleries and museums
because they are archival.
All printing is done locally by Newton Press, of Newton Aycliffe, Co. Durham,
who have invested in the finest drum and flatbed scanners available, as well as
the highest quality Giclée printers.
